Coco has her first litter!

Our sweet girl Coco had her first litter on Thursday, August 28th, 2014.  Her C-Section was scheduled for noon that day but at 2:30 in the morning, she started going into labor. Her first pup was born 15 minutes later, with the second coming about 30 minutes after.  The following puppies came in waves of two, separated by about 20 minutes, each wave about 2-3 hours apart. Coco nursed her first 3 as the fourth was being born and she kept nursing throughout the labor process. We are very blessed to have two healthy boys and five healthy girls.

Coco is doing well; she was running around and playing about three days post-delivery and eating like a horse. Her pups are gaining weight at a quick pace as Coco's been a champ at nursing! She lets them nurse until they fall asleep, about 40-60 minutes. Their eyes are opening now and their ears are softening. They are also starting to use their back legs to hobble around and they've found their voices. Our biggest girl, in particular, is very vocal.

It's been a fun and tiring couple of weeks but we are counting our blessings and excited to share the news of our growing family with you!
